I am a qualified Art Teacher and professional Artist with over 24 years experience teaching art courses at all levels to adults and children in schools, colleges, in mental health, with the elderly, in the community and privately.

I aim to encourage students to experiment with different ways of expressing themselves through drawing and painting and to find their own, personal interests and individual style. Consequently, there is no 'house style', and I find students are constantly stretching me to think of better ways to teach, which keeps me on my toes!

My own art work has encompassed both traditional and experimental approaches. Interests in psychology, the spiritual and art as therapy have led me to make more experimental, abstract paintings - landscapes of the mind. This experience of working in and having Art Therapy, has inspired both my own creative work and extended the way I approach teaching.

I have recently completed a Master's Degree in Fine Art at Norwich School of Art and Design, where in addition to Painting and Drawing, I also explored Digital Photography and Video, making a short film called 'Letter To My Mum' for my MA Show which gained a Distinction.

I prefer to teach art classes in groups no larger than 10, in which a welcoming, friendly atmosphere can develop during the course and students get get more individualised art tuition. Structured art activities are balanced with encouragement to do your own thing, and art teaching methods include demonstrations, talks, discussions, step by step or experimental exercises, projects, homework, encouraging one-to-one guidance and outings, always with the option to do you own thing.

We explore all drawing and painting media, including acrylics, oils, pastels, water based media, mixed media, collage and all drawing media.
